The Regents School - a great opportunity for realisation

The Regents School - Thailand
(Pattaya campus)

Over the second year of my education in The Regent's School situated in Thailand, I had the immense honor to meet the current Ambassador of Republic Bulgaria, Mr. Kamen Velichkov and to celebrate the national holiday of my country on 3rd of March along with many other fellow country-men, proud to attend and show their respect for the Bulgarian culture and the work our ancestrors have done to make the existence of our country possible.

On the meeting with Mr. Velichkov we discussed the opportunity given to me and many former, current and future students from Bulgaria and other European countries to learn how to perform as leaders and take control of our lives. Along with academic excellence The Regent's School enjoys a number of non curriculum events and activities that not only prepare us for the university but also give us much knowledge and practical skills useful for the challenges in life.

It was an honor for me to represent Bulgaria in the last two years in The Regent's School - Pattaya campus, as well as Bistra Doinova at the Bangkok campus who accomplished amazing results, in both academic and non-curriculum activities. As an example I would like to mention that Bistra Doinova was Head girl - the school board president as well as a representative of the school in the Round Square Conference in India for the year 2008.

Over the years many of the graduate students were accepted by top universities worldwide
with results reaching 42 points in the IB program, accepted worldwide with high appreciation by the universities, because the level of training and preparation, based on the CAS (Creativity Adventure Service), extended essay and the syllabus provided. I am very glad to know that Dr. Virachay Techavijit as an owner of the school appreciates the diligence and the talent of many students received a scholarship. Many of the graduated and prospered students that have finished the IB program in this prestigious school are namely Bulgarians, therefore Dr. Virachay Techavijit is willing to help gifted children and give them a chance to be part of the Regents School community.

Personally, I feel a big change in
myself and my life as a whole, by voting confidence and personal responsibility the teachers here helped me improve my ability to cope alone with the difficulties in life and find my way among the difficulties.

On the other hand, the arrival in Thailand
introduced me to a totally new and different culture from the one I had seen. With every week passing I enjoy even more traditional Thai cultural and historical landmarks, rare in the modern world but fortunately highly valued here.

Everyone has
the chance to meet this challenge, and ultimately experience the best of the years spent here.

The Regents School - Thailand
(Pattaya campus)

This is why our school was chosen to be a full member of a unique organisation called “Round Square” (www.roundsquare.org), which consists of only 62 outstanding schools in the world. HM King Constantine is its Chairman and HRH Duke of York, Prince Andrew is among its patrons. All school members of the Round Square are committed to produce well rounded leaders out of their students. Therefore we encourage only those who want to be well rounded persons who have both academic ability, i.e. preferably top ten percent in English subject and one other main subject and social skills as well as those who have keen interest in extracurricular activities such as music, sport, outdoor pursuits and community service, to apply. In addition, good role model setting is strongly expected of the scholars, i.e. GC Scholars are required to lead others by being good role models.

IB Diploma Programme (www.ibo.org) is a two-year course leading to examinations taken at the end of Y13 (Grade 12) when students are 18+. The IB Diploma is an entry qualification to university in most countries and qualifies to study 3-year degree programmes in the UK without having to take any entrance exam or SAT test. A soft copy of our in-house handbook detailing the curriculum and the variety of subjects offered next year can be obtained from enquiry@regents.ac.th

*IB Diploma’s highest possible score are 42 points plus 3 bonus points for a very good extended essay. Oxbridge and Ivy League universities normally consider applicants who score 37 and higher. In June 2008, the highest IB score was 43.

*2008 graduates received many world’s best universities’ offers including Oxford University, LSE, Imperial College, Wharton, UCLA, UC-Berkeley. This is indeed a very outstanding record.
